RSS

RSS is a collection if web "feed formats" used to publish frequently updated stuff like blog entries, news headlines, and podcasts in a standard format

What does that mean?

Basically there is a way you can "feed" or make available for collection some summary of your new content. it's a bit like an advertisement for the new stuff you've added to your website.

The plan is that by making headlines and a small portion of your new stuff available in RSS format people will subscribe to the feed and sometimes follow your link back to your website.

In my opinion making rss feed is good business and using someone else's rss feed might sound good in theory it can be a way to direct people off your website.

rss is not my bag - I don't generally like been spoon fed an I don't like signing up to be spoon fed in the future either.

But they are popular and many peoples home page is a and rss reader or has one build in and many many people do like to be spoon fed news or blog updates. Personally if I miss an item of news even really big news I know that within days I will be sick of hearing about that news so why would I want to know it so much earlier?
