In 1989 CERN Europe was the largest Internet node in Europe, and Tim Berners-Lee joined hypertext with the Internet.Quote from Tim Berners-Lee:
"I just had to take the hypertext idea and connect it to the TCP and DNS ideas and - ta-da! - the World Wide Web".
He used the ideas from the Enquire system to create the World Wide Web, then he designed and built the first web browser called WorldWideWeb and the first Web server called httpd (short for HyperText Transfer Protocol daemon).
The first website
The first Web site built was at http://info.cern.ch/ and was first put online on August the 6th 1991. It explained what the World Wide Web was, how everyone could own a browser In 1994, Berners-Lee founded the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology3 Main parts of a search engine
Spiders or Bots: First Search engine spiders follow links on the web to request pages that are either not yet indexed or have been updated since they were last indexed. Spiders or Bots do essentially the same as you or I would when searching they follow links and request pages to view, just like we do with our browsersThe Index: Similar to the index at the back of the book
Search Interface: which basically takes what you type in get a list of relevant pages sorts them into an order based on relevance usage data and links. then gets a list of relevant Advertisements to display next to the list and displays the resulting pages (SERPS) Search Engine Results PageS
