Before you make any decision reguarding your fonts you need to consider the following
- 1. the font needs to be readable
- 2. it wants to appeal to your target audience
- 3. the font needs to have enough characters
Readable fonts
It sounds like pure common sense that a font should be readable but there a large number of website who's font is so abstract it's barely readableAppealing to your target audience
This is probably the most important deciding factor when choosing a font. the trick is to look around the internet go to the same places and same sites as your potential visitor goes. Get some ideas of colors and design, for instance nearly all computer game websites are black why that is I don't know but black seems to be the "gaming" background color. A lot of website aimed at people who are frightened of computers have big writing and almost child like graphics if you take a look at a typical internet novice site and a children's site there are many similarities.When choosing a font you need to fall inline and do similar.
Enough characters
Many fonts don't have a full set of characters, they may be all upper case or lower case or have the numbers missing. Many fonts don't have the symbols such as the dollar and pound sign. You should check it has all the characters you require and also those you might need before choosing a font. it can be very frustrating when you've got your website just about done and then the font doesn't have the symbol you require.Related Articles
